For its upscale Acadian-style homes, manicured half-acre lots and amenities like pools and three-car garages, The Lakes District is considered one of Alexandria’s most luxurious neighborhoods. The sidewalk-lined streets lead to small lakes, adding to the neighborhood's picturesque and tranquil vibe. “Every house in that neighborhood is absolutely beautiful. It’s the beautiful build of the homes and the lakes that appeal to people. There are two or three lakes in the neighborhood and there are always people walking on the trails around the water,” says Eythan Foxworth, a Realtor with Century 21 Buelow-Miller Realty, who lives in Alexandria. “It’s a really safe neighborhood. They have a very good neighborhood watch program there.” In addition, Versailles Boulevard runs through The Lakes District, granting residents easy access to the latest shopping and dining options in Alexandria and students here are slated to attend well-ranked public schools.
High-end homes with price tags to match
The neighborhood offers an attractive mix of Acadian-style homes and other neo-traditional designs, built from the late 1990s to the present day. “People take really good care of their properties,” Foxworth says. “You’ll never see a yard with tall grass.” Prices range from $450,000 to $1 million. Most homes sell between $450,000 and $600,000, but larger homes with more than 3,000 square feet go for $775,000 to $1 million. “It’s one of the top three most expensive neighborhoods in Alexandria,” Foxworth says. “The architecture and the location drive up the costs.”
