Suburban Neighborhood in Aloha, Oregon
Washington County 97007
Standing at just 764 above sea level, Cooper Mountain is really more of a tall hill, but don’t let its height fool you: it’s still one of the prettiest spots in the Tualatin Valley. The surrounding neighborhood, Cooper Mountain-Aloha South, is much the same, featuring rolling hills, scenic views, and an abundance of hiking trails. While there are a few older homes, most of the local housing inventory was developed in the last thirty years, including charming modern cottages, architecturally striking contemporary homes, and a variety of new traditional-style houses.
At the center of the Cooper Mountain-Aloha South, Cooper Mountain Nature Park is home to over 200 acres of forest, meadows, and trails, and is one of the most popular hiking spots in the Tualatin Valley. However, that’s only one of the neighborhood’s many greenspaces. There’s also Northridge Woods Natural Area, two well-maintained dog parks, along with a few traditional city parks like Mountain View Champions Park, which features a playground and athletic fields, along with some excellent views. And for those who just want to relax outside, Cooper Mountain Vineyards offers excellent vintages and views. Suffice to say, locals have plenty of options whenever they feel like getting a bit of fresh air
When Cooper Mountain-Aloha South residents need to do a bit of shopping, they can swing by the local Walmart or Safeway. If they’re looking for something a bit more specialized, Downtown Beaverton is just a few miles down the road, and offers some of the best shopping and dining in the state of Oregon. Serious chefs will have no trouble finding ingredients: the city has everything from Whole Foods and Trader Joes, to specialty stores like extremely popular Asian Grocery Uwajimaya Beaverton.
As for restaurants in Cooper Mountain-Aloha, there are a number of well-reviewed Mexican restaurants like La Parilla, as well as a few other local spots low-key Korean eatery Kings Bento. And of course, locals looking for a bit of culinary diversity can always head downtown, where they may be overwhelmed by the sheer number of options. Fine dining enthusiasts can stop by chic New American spot Lemaire, while street food fanatics will always find something new at BG’s Food Cartel, which features over 30 international food trucks, all next to a well-stocked bar.
The neighborhood falls within the Beaverton School District, which is home to some of the best schools in Oregon, including the neighborhood’s own Mountainside High School, which opened its doors in 2017 and features an accredited IB program for students interested in studying abroad.
For those who love nature, but still enjoy their creature comforts, Cooper Mountain-Aloha South offers the best of both worlds.
