Estacado, developed in the 1970s, is an older southwest Amarillo neighborhood known for larger property lots. While maybe not as a popular as it early days, this primarily residential community's location between Coulter and Bell streets puts residents in the heart of the city's retail corridor. Estacado is part of the A-rated Canyon Independent School District and has easy access to Interstate 27 and Texas State Loop 335. “It’s not as sought after as some of the communities just to the north and west of it,” says Debbie Dodson, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker First Equity, who has sold homes in the neighborhood. “It still has beautiful streets and is known for its big yards.”

Brick ranch and bungalows on roomy lots
Like most city neighborhoods, Estacado’s streets are hidden off main thoroughfares. The wide roads are connected with sidewalks that make it easy for residents to get around on foot. Brick Craftsman bungalows and a few ranch styles with larger lots fill the neighborhood streets. The ranch homes have front and back yards and driveways that lead to two-car garages. Along Hurst Avenue and Oakcrest Lane are also townhouse communities for those looking for maintenance-free living. Prices range from around $195,000 to $300,000 for a townhouse, while single family homes range from $250,000 to $400,000. The market moves faster here than the national average, with listings moving in 24 days compared to the national average of 44 days.
