Bayshore-Klatt is a great neighborhood for park lovers

Carr-Gottstein Park is a hidden gem in the neighborhood that is easy to miss, but has lots to enjoy. “It has the most beautiful sunsets of anywhere in south Anchorage that’s not on the hillside,” Scott says. “It has a 180-degree-plus view of the Chugach Mountains, Turnagain Arm, Cook Inlet and Fire Island.” Scott notes that the park sits above mudflats, which can be dangerous to walk on. Campbell Creek Estuary Natural Area has more trails and lots of wildlife, including Moose. South Anchorage Sports Park hosts baseball fields and a dog park on Klatt Road.

An easy commute throughout Anchorage

Bayshore-Klatt’s location offers an ideal mix of quiet and convenience. “The biggest appeal for me was the fact that you get away from the busyness of the commercialized areas of town, but you’re still a few minutes from everything,” Scott says. You can take Walter J. Hickel Parkway about 8 miles north to downtown. C Street is another route north, but it usually has a bit more traffic. The closest bus routes are at the Dimond Center mall.
