Condo complexes, midcentury homes and generous lot sizes
Bound by East Tudor Road and the Seward Highway, this neighborhood's winding streets feature dozens of ranch-style and split-level houses from the 1960s and 1970s. Many of these houses have mid-century modern design elements like floor-to-ceiling windows, slanted rooflines, and, in some cases, a light blue or green exterior paint job that mimics the sky or trees surrounding them. They typically sit atop 7,000 to 10,000-square-foot lots with plenty of mature trees that often tower overhead. These houses fetch $350,000 to $650,000, depending on their condition. A two-bedroom unit at one of the condominium complexes in the neighborhood's northeast corner will fetch just under $200,000.

Nature preserve and inclusive playground offer outdoor recreation
Perhaps the Tudor Area's most prominent feature is the 14-acre Helen Louise McDowell Sanctuary, which came from an effort to preserve a section of the Fish Creek wetlands on the neighborhood's southwest corner that had survived the city's rapid residential and commercial development. Visitors to the sanctuary have logged seeing more than 46 species of birds while walking down its mile-long boardwalk. The eight-year-old timber playground at David Green Park awaits children of all ability levels on East 36th Street.
