Family-friendly living north of downtown Ann Arbor
As one of the many neighborhoods in Ann Arbor’s orbit, Northside prides itself on slowing down the fast-paced nature of the city with a verdant, easygoing attitude of its own. Popular with families and students, the area is known for its proximity to high-ranking schools, green spaces and a higher-than-average level of comfort and safety. “This is a great place to raise a family,” says Isaac Boyd, Division President of Toll Brothers in Michigan, which has served the area for over 20 years. “Northside has a great standard of living.”

Townhomes and condos among the greenery
Though single-family homes can be found in the Northside, they’re becoming less and less available over time. “A lot of the newest construction is centered around those Craftsman-style townhomes and condos,” says Boyd. Townhomes start in the mid-$500,000s, though newer examples can run as high as the low-$900,000s. Single-family homes run the gamut of shapes and sizes, with ranch-style homes starting in the low $300,000s and Colonial revivals hitting the mid-$600,000s. Classic Mid-century Modern homes can reach the low-$900,000s. As you move northeast, away from the Huron River, lot sizes tend to increase. The community also features student housing and apartments for residents.

Pre-K to adult access to high-ranking education
Education is a primary draw in the Northside between its high-ranking public schools and proximity to the North Campus of the University of Michigan. “People move here for the school system specifically,” says Boyd of Toll Brothers. Students in the area can begin their journey through the public school system at Logan Elementary School, which scores an A on Niche. From there, they can attend Ann Arbor STEAM at Northside before enrolling at Skyline High School, both of which have an A-plus. The newest high school in the district, Skyline features an interdisciplinary magnet program dedicated to supporting individual student interests and applying what they’ve learned in the real world. Older students can take advantage of the Northside being just shy of a mile from the University of Michigan’s North Campus.
