The rural Oak Park neighborhood offers city convenience
Centrally located between Asheville and Hendersonville, adjacent to the regional airport, Oak Park’s biggest draw is accessibility. “I live in Oak Park for its quaintness, convenient location to restaurants, the airport, shopping and proximity to Asheville,” says Realtor Diane Duermit with Beverly-Hanks & Associates, who has sold in the neighborhood for over 20 years. “It’s tucked back from the busy five-lane highway, which gives it a private country feel.” Residents can drive off their quiet streets and quickly reach the businesses along North Carolina Highway 280, also known as Airplane Road. Additionally, the artsy downtown district in Asheville and small-town Hendersonville are within 10 miles.

Country roads atop rolling hills comprise parts of Oak Park, while other areas are more densely packed with homes. Many properties sit on large lots with sprawling yards and towering trees. Single-family architecture includes ranch-style houses, bungalows and some New Traditional builds with contemporary features. “Several of the homes have been or are being renovated,” Duermit says. “Many of the large lots have been subdivided, allowing newer homes to be built on infill lots.” Depending on the date of construction, renovations and lot size, housing prices range from $280,000 to around $750,000.
