The Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and East Arlington’s entertainment district
East Arlington has Tom Vandergriff to thank for its entertainment district that regularly draws around 15 million visitors every year. Not only did the former mayor help Arlington State College join the University of Texas system and become a four-year university in the 1950s, but he also helped establish Six Flags Over Texas after a bid to bring Disneyland to Arlington fell through. Seven decades later, East Arlington has seen the arrival of several new sports venues. “It covers all of the stadiums – the Rangers stadium, the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the Chocktaw stadium and Six Flags,” says Derek Carter, a Texcel Real Estate agent and planning and zoning commissioner. “That’s all in the entertainment district.” With local shops and restaurants, green spaces and a mix of rental and residential options, East Arlington is home to some of the biggest attractions in North Texas.
The famous AT&T stadium is located in East Arlington.

Bars, grills and restaurants around Lincoln Square and Texas Live!
Texas Live! is Arlington’s premier dining destination with bars, restaurants and over 100 TVs to watch local games on. Some of the bigger names include Dallas favorite Lockhart Smokehouse, Guy Fieri’s Taco Joint and Hall-of-Fame catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez’ pizzeria. Revolver Brewery has its own pub and dog-friendly beer garden on the premises, while PBR Texas serves its pints alongside two mechanical bulls where guests test their riding skills. Outside of the entertainment district, Lincoln Square is around a mile west and has a few chains and fast-food restaurants, as well as some local establishments including Zack’s Bistro and Airways Hamburgers. Asian shops and restaurants are south of Pioneer Parkway in the Ben Thanh Plaza, and Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles are built at the General Motors Assembly Plant on the east side. The closest grocery stores are Walmart, Kroger and Foodland Markets.
Studio Movie Grill and many bother popular stores are located at Lincoln Square in Randol Mill.
The Arlington Entertainment District is truly a one of a kind experience.

Sports stadiums and Six Flags Over Texas
The entertainment corridor stays busy whether it’s baseball season or football season, with thousands of fans packing into Globe Life Field or AT&T Stadium to watch the Rangers and Cowboys play. When it’s off-season, these stadiums are filled with concert fans instead as they to listen to their favorite Grammy Award-winning artists such as Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift. Six Flags Over Texas is around 2 miles west and features more than 100 rides across its 212-acre park. The district also has a few museums along the highway such as the Arlington Museum of Art, the National Medal of Honor Museum and the International Bowling Museum. Many more parks and recreational spaces are available to the public on the south side of East Arlington. Playgrounds, picnic areas and walking loops can be found in the B.C. Barnes and Bradley Hinshaw Parks, while the East Library and Recreation Center has an indoor pool and play area.

Traditional homes, apartments and well-connected subdivisions
East Arlington has a roughly equal mix of homes and apartments, with more renters living in this community rather than homeowners. Most traditional homes are south of the entertainment district alongside Texas State Highway 360 and were built in the 1960s, and subdivisions are well-connected through multiple streets and roadways. “There’s a really charming feel to most of Arlington,” Carter says. “Whenever out-of-towners come visit, they really love the fill of our trees, streets and housing addition.” One-story homes with two-car garages have mid-sized lots and range between $100,000 and $300,000, while larger two-story properties sell between $300,000 and $600,000.
Plenty of public schools by the University of Texas at Arlington
Arlington ISD oversees 75 campuses across the city and is rated a B-plus on Niche. At least 20 of those schools are zoned for East Arlington, including 15 elementary campuses, four middle schools and three high schools. There’s more private schools and academies 2 miles west in North Central Arlington, and over 40,000 students are enrolled at the B-plus-rated University of Texas at Arlington.

Easy access to Dallas and Fort Worth through Interstate 30
While it gets noisy by the highway, many residents are willing to accept the tradeoff because East Arlington is directly south of Interstate 30, which leads 15 miles west into Fort Worth or 20 miles east into Dallas. The area is fully built out with trails and sidewalks, making it both biker and walker-friendly, and the Arlington Transportation App provides $3-$5 rides across the city. The 24-hour Texas Health Memorial Hospital is around 3 miles west, while the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is around 10 miles north.
Interstate 30 connects North Arlington to both Dallas and Fort Worth.
