Downtown region built to maintain active lifestyle
Arlington is one of Snohomish County’s northernmost cities, representing the spirit of Arlington as the Old Town neighborhood since it holds its local businesses and events and is the hub for community mingling. Living in the Old Town neighborhood provides easy access to the most popular restaurants and parks for a sociable lifestyle. “It has the small town feel even though it’s growing,” says broker at Windermere Real Estate Ryan Nobach. “They have the Ferris wheel and ice skating during the winter. It's kind of interesting, but they’re very active in that city.” Locals are also near Highway 9, which travels through Snohomish County.

Boutiques, breweries and brunch on Olympia Avenue
Olympic Avenue is the city’s walkable sector with a historical aura and visible artwork tucked within the parking lots' alleyways. The downtown is full of boutiques and restaurants for a fun afternoon around the local downtown. Vintage Orchard Coffee has traditional hot and cold coffee drinks plus lotus energy drinks. The Stilly Diner is a brunch spot with a homestyle American breakfast and lunch menu. Bistro San Martin is an upscale spot opened on weekends with white tablecloth service and a sophisticated menu. Its entrees vary from flat-iron steak, lamb and crab cakes. Grocery Outlet and Safeway are also around this drive for those household items. Besides the several boutiques and gift shops along this road, folks can quickly travel to Marysville. Shoppers can find big box stores like Target and Costco. Tulalip has the Seattle Premium Outlets a few more miles south.

Celebrate bald eagle's homecoming at Eagle Festival
Some of Arlington’s biggest celebrations occur at Haller Park. Frontier Days is the city’s Fourth of July celebration, having activities from sunrise to sunset. The mornings begin with a pancake breakfast followed by auctions, carnival games, and a parade. The festivities conclude with fireworks. Art in the Legion promotes the city’s creative artists with a weekend fair that features live music, food trucks, and vendors. The Arlington Farmers Market, held on Saturdays from May to September, is another location to find local craftwork in addition to grabbing fresh produce. The Eagle Festival is a two-day event commemorating the return of the Bald Eagle to the Stillaguamish River. Activities include a photo contest, a chainsaw carving show and a haiku contest.
21st century homes toward the Stillaguamish River
The urban neighborhood includes a mix of apartments, condos, townhouses and single-family houses. The area’s newest properties, built in the 2020s, are on the east side, closer to the river. These are often townhouses and condos priced from $460,000 to $555,000. Nobach noted how newer properties are on the way for the city. “There are a few developments downtown, but it’s much of those storefronts with apartments now,” he says. “There are plans for other developments with single-family development in the future.” Older properties date as far as the turn of the century. These are usually ramblers or cottage homes with smaller front lawns and a side driveway leading to a garage. These are priced from $350,000 to $810,000. Manufactured homes are also common in this area. Prices can range from $45,000 to $100,000.

Hikers and bikers can spend 30 miles on Centennial Trail
Legion Park has a picnic bench and walking paths. Terrace Park is on the neighborhood’s eastern side. The 4-acre park has century-old evergreen trees, a basketball court, and a playground. The park also has the city’s amphitheater. This site hosts annual city summer events such as Old-time movies, Music on the Terraces and Shakespeare in the Park. Centennial Trail runs straight through the neighborhood and travels as far north as the Skagit County line and south to Snohomish. The multi-purpose and paved trail are ideal for hiking, biking and equestrian riding. Twin Rivers Snohomish County Park to the north has open soccer and baseball fields and a disc golf course. Haller Park offers fishing access and a space to view eagles along the Stillaguamish River. “The Stillaguamish River has tubing and fishing, there’s access in Arlington, and it goes towards the Cascades,” Nobach adds.
Less than 2 miles from all assigned schools

These two schools are about a mile walk for most residents. Arlington High School earns a B-plus grade from Niche. The school partners with Everett Community College, where students can earn dual enrollment credit or take college-level courses in high school.

Highway 9 runs through neighborhood
Local travel options are available through the Community Transit busing system. Highway 9 runs through the area offering access to Snohomish, 20 miles south. Commuters can reach other cities like Mount Vernon, Seattle and Everett using Interstate 5. “Everett to the south is the biggest commute because of Boeing, which is a large state employer,” Nobach says. Residents have a few options for air travel. The Paine Field Airport, 30 miles away, has flights to seven cities, including San Francisco, Phoenix and Los Angeles. The other major metro airport is Seattle Tacoma International Airport, 60 miles away, with flights to 94 domestic cities.
