Highlands
Suburban Neighborhood in Arvada, Colorado
Jefferson County 80003
Spacious housing options
The Highlands community is lined with Colonial split levels with side-gabled roofs along hilly streets. Occasionally there are also ranch-style homes tucked between two taller builds, often with a combination of brick and vinyl siding. Covered front porches and attached garages are common, and some streets have sidewalks, but the lack of parking strips separating the sidewalk from the street does hinder the area’s walkability. “Even though the homes are larger here than in the downtown area, prices tend to drop the farther away you get from Olde Town,” says Sean Murphy, team leader of the Moxie Denver team and host of the popular Somewhere In Colorado YouTube channel. Three-bedroom homes with almost 2,000 square feet of living space usually go for under $600,000. As a highly established neighborhood, low inventory is driven in part by infrequent moves, and residents tend to stick around for a long time. “Plus,” Murphy adds, “you do get the added bonus of a nearby golf course.”Book a tee time and spend the day outdoors
That course can be found at Indian Tree Golf Club, a popular public course to the west of Wadsworth Boulevard. Tee time reservations can be made online, and golfers can stop in to spend time on the practice range before enjoying some “Mile High” nachos from the club’s restaurant. And even though the residential streets may not be incredibly walkable, nearby parks have more than enough space for a calm stroll or a swift sprint. Faversham Park invites visitors to spend a sunny day fishing or picnicking by the sparkling lake. A paved trail loops around the lake and connects to the Tepper Fields, a set of four baseball fields that often host local Little League games. About a mile away, the Little Dry Creek Trail connects to other parks in the area.Jefferson County public schools

And at Arvada Senior High School, which maintains a grade of C-plus on Niche, students can join the Academic Pathways program, which offers specialized studies in STEM, sports business and the arts.Wadsworth Boulevard and I-70 access
Residents can take Wadsworth Boulevard to reach Olde Town Arvada, which is home to Sunday Farmers’ Market from June to September. Interstate 70 is also close by for commuters.Local options and chain shops
The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities hosts shows, events and classes throughout the week. Or head over to Black & Read Music, Books and Games to peruse the vintage vinyl collection or pick up a new book. Target and fast-casual food options like Chick-Fil-A, along with Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters, a local cafe that sources beans directly from farmers around the world are found in the same shopping center. Just south, residents can get groceries easily at Sprouts Farmers Market. With nearby parks, shopping centers and dining options, Highlands offers homebuyers a suburban retreat with a caring community.
