Jeffco Schools District – which offers school choice – serves the neighborhood, beginning with Meiklejohn Elementary School and then Drake Middle School, both of which earn A-minus grades from Niche. Ralston Valley High receives an A grade and, for over a decade, has been recognized by the Colorado Board of Education as a school of excellence. High schoolers may choose from 23 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 10 honors courses. The 2022 graduates attended all private and public schools in Colorado and universities such as Yale and Princeton.

Pattridge paths and sports at Long Lake
Hikers travel along unpaved hills within Pattridge Open Space, just south of the Leyden Rock community. Further south within Long Lake Regional Park, teams battle on football, soccer and baseball fields. Four-legged friends meet other dogs after long walks on trails between West Arvada Dog Park and Blunn Reservoir. Coal Creek Canyon Road – also Colorado state Route 72 – cuts across the neighborhood’s northern, connecting it with mountain adventures to the west.
