Woodcrest townhouses and Woodland Valley ranch-style
Natural stone and brick decorate Colonial Revival and ranch-style homes in sidewalk-lined subdivisions. Two-car garages provide a place for homeowners to park after commuting from the city. Mature spruce trees shade afternoon dogwalkers and create natural privacy between homes. Some townhouses evoke a warm cottage feel with rich terra cotta-colored siding accented by rough stone detail, while others take the form of Craftsman designs with private garages. Townhouses list between $393,000 for a two-bedroom and $540,000 for a four-bedroom in communities such as Woodcrest. In this subdivision, amenities include a pool, which is maintained along with the grounds through $280 monthly payments. Single-family homes list between $460,000 for a four-bedroom and $710,000 for a five-bedroom, within subdivisions such as Woodland Valley, established between the 1960s and 1970s. Apex adventures and trails to Ralston Valley
This neighborhood’s recreation centers and secluded trails stretch from Apex Center to Oak Park. Apex Recreation Center remains full all year round, from summers when poolgoers lounge in the lazy river to winters as ice skaters glide along the rink. “It’s state of the art, brand new – there’s nothing that you cannot find or do at the Apex,” says Joann Perito, a Broker with Avenues Unlimited, who holds over 26 years of experience selling Colorado real estate. Apex is a part of the North Jeffco Recreation District, which Perito says stays ahead of the trends, noting, “They were doing pickleball 10 years before anybody knew what it was.” Next door, skateboarders try new tricks along the Arvada Skate Park’s ramps, handrails and stairs. Oak Creek creates a platform for children to play, with its forest-themed playground including a climbing wall shaped like a camping tent. Ralston Creek runs through the park with the accompanying trail for bikers and joggers to trek the paved path, which stretches to Ralston Valley Park.

Ralston Square, Randi’s restaurant and retail
Ralston Square shopping center houses the closest grocery and dining options when it's time to fuel up or fill the fridge. Here, locals stock up on groceries at King Soopers and grab an afternoon pick-me-up at House of Js Coffee, a small craft coffee shop that sources ingredients from local vendors. Folks have enjoyed pizza and pasta nights for over 40 years at Randi’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant. Besides classic Italian dishes, creative menu additions include the “knuckle sandwich,” scratch-made meatballs over a sausage patty with a garlic bread bun. While Ralston Square does not house major retailers, Westwoods Shopping Center is only 3 miles west, allowing shoppers to browse Kohl’s racks and pick up home improvement supplies at Ace Hardware.
