Protecting homes during extreme cold
Because the city of Arvada experiences severe cold during the winter months, it offers residents advice on how to deal with frozen pipes. Homeowners should open cabinet doors to circulate warmer air around the pipes and let cold water drip from faucets. If a pipe freezes, it can safely be thawed using a hair dryer, portable space heater, or hot towels.
