Suburban, family-friendly living northwest of Denver
In Scenic Heights, residents can have vistas of the snow-capped Rocky Mountain from the comfort of their homes. Located just 12 miles northwest of Denver, Colorado, Scenic Heights is a suburban neighborhood in the charming, historic city of Arvada. In addition to views of the surrounding area and local parks in the neighborhood, residents of Scenic Heights enjoy their proximity to plenty of options for retail. "Residents love being able to walk or bike down to Olde Town Arvada to walk around, sit at cafes and dine at popular restaurants and bars," says Robyn Phipps, a Realtor with Compass Real Estate who has been selling homes in Arvada for 20 years. With schools in the neighborhood and "Regular festivals and events in Olde Town bringing the community together," Scenic Heights is a family-friendly suburb popular with "both first-time homebuyers who might be looking to start a family and second and third-time homebuyers looking for their dream home," says Phipps. Residents of Scenic Heights also enjoy a "perfectly balanced position between Denver, Arvada and the Mountains, so they can just as easily head downtown one day as they can grab their boots and go for a hike in the Rockies," says Sean Murphy, team leader of the Moxie Denver team and host of the popular Somewhere in Colorado YouTube channel. With nearby access to both natural and urban areas, Scenic Heights is a quiet enclave outside Denver where residents can take in daily views of the mountains.

The neighborhood is known for its larger, relatively expensive homes, which occupy its higher elevations and can take on a kind of castle-in-the-clouds aesthetic, some featuring custom-built architectural features like spacious balconies and turret-style bay windows cascading over sloping yards and sprawling layouts, while others offer unobstructed views of the Rockies from about 5,000 feet in elevation. Prices for these homes can easily skyrocket past $1 million — and sometimes even past $2 million — but homebuyers don’t have to be a millionaire to enjoy Scenic Heights’ million-dollar views. Five-bedroom, traditional homes with more than 3,000 square feet of living space can sell for under $850,000, while two to four-bedroom split-level and ranch-style homes are also available from as low as $475,000 to $600,000 dollars. Brick is most prominent amongst the neighborhood's quiet streets and mature trees, though an eclectic selection of colorful facades and architectural styles can also be found. Brick and Tudor-inspired elements are common among these single-family homes and many backyard areas, especially along hillsides, tend to be terraced.
