A serene setting minutes from the Asheville action
Flowing for thousands of years through the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, Beaverdam Creek carved what would become the Beaverdam valley. “The Beaverdam valley was actually one of the first inhabited areas in the Asheville area,” says Byron Greiner, principal broker at Dwell Realty Group. Today, the Beaverdam neighborhood is situated on its namesake stream, offering a private, serene community among the mountains, a short drive from all downtown Asheville has to offer.

Craven Gap Trail, an out-and-back hiking route that joggers and dog-walkers often frequent alongside the parkway, leads to the gorgeous Haw Creek Valley Overlook five miles away. In Lake View Park, Beaverdam Creek empties into Beaver Lake. Locals enjoy catch-and-release fishing from the pier, canoeing across the placid lake and strolling the boardwalk trails that traverse the Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary.

Home styles follow the landscape
Along the quiet, narrow residential lanes at the bottom of the valley, lush woodland lends homeowners a sense of privacy. The forested streets feature a mix of home styles including ranches and bungalows, which sell between $500,000 and $1 million. Meanwhile, new construction townhouse developments have popped up alongside the original homes, often selling between the mid-$400,000s and mid-$500,000s. Gated communities such as Beaverdam Run and Town Mountain Preserve sit further up Beaverdam Road, where winding mountain drives open up to contemporary Craftsman-style homes. Closer to the ridge on long private driveways, luxurious hillside estates are often priced between $1 million and $2 million but can reach as high as $3.5 million.
