Midcentury homes and contemporary new builds
Quiet Village’s winding roads and cul-de-sacs are lined with single-family homes. Its architecture includes everything from mid-century ranchers and bungalows to Craftsman-style residences and contemporary new builds that came online in the past decade. “There’s a kaleidoscope of housing styles here,” Soditus says. “The closer to the downtown area, the more you’ll find older Craftsman and Victorian homes. In the more suburban parts is where you’ll see a lot more modern construction.” Most homes here cost between $400,000 and $800,000, and more than half the area’s residential properties feature paved driveways and garages, although people also park their cars on the street. Pine trees, hedges and wildflowers pepper front yards, complimenting the rural surroundings. Roads are flat and level, even though the mountainous Rogue Valley encompasses the neighborhood.Off leash at Ashland Dog Park
Bikers ride along the Bear Creek Greenway, a 20-mile paved regional path running along Quiet Village’s northern boundary. Residents walk their dogs and watch for birds at Ashland Pond, a secluded outdoor spot with a small pond along the Greenway. Dogs roam off-leash at the Ashland Dog Park, a 2-acre fenced-in space where pet owners relax. The next-door Ashland BMX Park includes a dirt pump track and jump features for bikers and motocross enthusiasts. At the neighborhood’s southernmost point is the 7-acre Ashland Creek Park, which features a playground, community garden and a walking path encircling a multi-purpose athletic field.Ashland High School students can earn college credits
Students who live in Quiet Village are zoned for the Ashland School District, which receives an overall A-minus rating from Niche. Kindergarten through fifth grade students can walk to Helman Elementary School located at the center of the neighborhood, while older students can attend Ashland Middle and Ashland High School. All three schools earn A-minus Niche scores. Ashland High School students can earn college credits at Southern Oregon University, a local public college founded in 1872. “Because of Southern Oregon University, the town’s college scene and Ashland as a whole have seen a lot of recent growth and continue to grow,” Soditus says.Annual Halloween parade draws thousands
Every year, people come to Ashland for shows at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which sits in the heart of downtown. The multi-theater venue starts its season in late spring and wraps up every year around midwinter. “The Shakespeare Festival is a legendary seasonal event with dozens of plays and performances that often attract global attention,” says Taylor Lore, a local broker with Coldwell Banker Pro West Real Estate. The city recognizes Halloween in late October by organizing a massive parade along Main Street. “Ashland’s Halloween Parade has been a staple event for decades; folks from all over the country come to celebrate and spectate,” Lore says. The parade has occurred every year since 1990 and draws thousands of participants.Quiet Village residents rely on cars for transportation

Residents can make the mile-long drive to shop at boutiques like Elder Apothecary and Tree House Books at the Downtown Plaza shopping center. An actual European castle houses Belle Fiore Winery, which is 6 miles away. “Belle Fiore Winery is home to a 14th-century castle from Italy that was disassembled and literally shipped to Ashland piece by piece,” says Soditus.
