A west Athens suburb that doubles as a popular shopping destination

Four shopping centers are all located within a mile of Oak Bend, home to national retailers, grocery stores and local restaurants. And that’s the pull – a Target, Walmart or Aldi trip less than a 10-minute drive if there’s no traffic. “This area is more commercialized,” says associate broker Michelle Farmer of Keller Williams Greater Athens. She’s sold homes across the region for nearly 20 years. “You have several big-box stores, plus it’s an easy drive to Five Points.” The community also features single-family houses and townhomes with large floor plans. Plus, Oak Bend is only a few miles from one of the highest-rated private schools in Georgia. “It’s also close to Athens Academy, which is an alternative to the public schools in the area.”
