A convenient lifestyle on the eastern edge of Atlanta
The saying goes, “The sun rises first in Atlanta in East Lake.” It is the furthest east neighborhood in the city, and in the 1890s, Atlantans would take the streetcar to East Lake for vacations every summer. In the coming decades, the city’s first golf course opened in the neighborhood, and houses and businesses sprung up over the following century. Local activists and developers founded The East Lake Foundation in the 1990s, which today has created a modern neighborhood with highly rated schools, maintained parks and small businesses. “East Lake is an amazing neighborhood because of its proximity to great neighborhood eateries, local grocery stores, diversity of people and home styles,” says Torrence Ford, a former East Lake resident and a Realtor with RE/MAX Premier. “Within a four-minute drive, everything is at your fingertips.”

East Lake golf course estates and bungalows
The most in-demand homes in East Lake are 20th century bungalows and stately Colonial Revival and Cape Cod-style properties. “We’re lucky enough that this is one last single-family areas in the city,” says Adrianna Angelone, a broker with EAH Brokerage with over 20 years of real estate experience. “People love the neighborhood because it has really cool bungalows and you’re still able to get a good size family home.” Midcentury cottages range from $300,000 to $600,000, while homes over 2,000 square feet are $500,000 to $800,000. The area has also some newly built townhouses, which typically cost from $150,000 to $350,000. Units in gated communities are listed for $500,000 to $600,000. Custom residences around East Lake Golf Club often sell for $1 million to $1.5 million. Some of these homes neighbor Meadow Nook, an 1856 mansion that is the second-oldest house in Atlanta. East Lake has a 3 out of 10 CAP Index Crime Score, below the national average score of 4.
