Long-established community close to Atlanta
It is never hard to find a community program in Grove Park. Neighbors serve drinks and hors d'oeuvres to visitors during neighborhood walking tours, local leaders head up association meetings, and residents pick produce from the community garden. Atlanta’s entire West Side saw a decline in the 2000s as residents moved farther into the suburbs, but there’s been a recent resurgence as more people want to live close to downtown. “People go downtown if there’s nothing they want to do in the neighborhood, but you’re so close, it’s not hard to do,” says Jerilyn Lewis, managing broker at Area West Realty. The trend toward city living and the involvement of the Grove Park Neighborhood Association and the Grove Park Foundation have brought a new generation to this West End neighborhood.
