Tree-covered walking trails and a large jungle gym are less than a mile away at Cofield Park. South Bend Park stretches across 75 acres of land, just north of the neighborhood. It features a fenced-in shaded dog park, tennis and basketball courts and the South Bend Art and Culture Center, where kids can sign up for community sports leagues or participate in one of the after-school art programs. Folks can buy an annual pass or schedule a public tee time at Brown’s Mill Golf Course, about 2 miles down the road.Groceries, big box stores and restaurants on Cleveland Avenue
Grocery stores, national retailers and a couple of local restaurants border Cleveland Avenue, on the north end of Hammond Park. Walter’s Soul Food Café has been serving Southern delicacies like gravy-smothered oxtails and banana pudding for over 25 years. Folks can follow the crosswalk across the street to grab a quick bite to eat at American Wings & Seafood. From here, paved sidewalks lead to Kroger, Dollar General and Walgreens in just a half mile, and Walmart Supercenter is right across the interstate.Atlanta Public Schools earn a B on Niche
