Lincoln is a close-knit neighborhood that keeps drawing people back home
The Lincoln neighborhood sits along the northwest edge of Atlanta, right along the border with Cobb County. It encompasses the Lincoln Homes community and Jackson Trace subdivision. JoAnna Powell lived in Lincoln Homes as a child and returned as an adult to raise her own family in the same house she grew up in. She is one of many who find their way back home to Lincoln. “It’s home, and everybody knows each other here,” says Powell, who is now part of the neighborhood association. The community holds a reunion every year. “Anybody who’s ever lived here comes back and introduces their new family members, or just fellowship and just catch up,” she says.
To the north is a USPS distribution center, which brings in heavy truck traffic, and a railroad.
The Lincoln neighborhood is located northwest of Downtown Atlanta.
Many residents work at BNS-Inman Yard, one of the region's busiest rail yards.

Shopping and dining in Cobb County or near Atlanta’s Moores Mill
Powell says some residents head to Cobb County for their shopping. “It’s just a bridge that separates us from Cobb County,” she says. Providence Pavilion is a large shopping center, about 4 miles from Lincoln. It is anchored by Publix and Walgreens and has multiple fast-food options. A plaza off Veterans Memorial Highway includes some locally owned options, including a juice bar and a Jamaican restaurant. Residents can also head to the Moores Mill shopping center in Atlanta’s Upper Westside area, where they will find another Publix. Nearby is Henri’s Bakery and Deli, a longtime favorite known for its roast beef sandwiches.

Multiple parks and a trail connection on the way
Powell says residents love their community park, Lillian Cooper Shepherd Park. It is tucked behind the trees in the middle of the neighborhood and known only to those who live there. They hold many events there, including an Easter egg hunt and a back-to-school supply drive. Lincoln is also close to Westside Park, recently renamed Shirley Clarke Franklin Park. It is Atlanta’s largest greenspace and has a reservoir, trails, playgrounds and pavilions.
Chattahoochee Park is north of the railway tracks and is the site of the Chattahoochee YMCA, which used to be the school attended by most Lincoln children, Powell says. She says the area will also soon have a trailhead park that will connect with the city’s Silver Comet Trail and Proctor Creek Greenway, which eventually connect to the Atlanta Beltline.
Residents can enjoy nice weather at Westside Reservoir Park.
Residents can register their kids at the YMCA Chattahoochee Early Learning Center.

Holmes on the Blue Line -- when heading to a Falcons game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the heart of the city. The neighborhood is close to Interstate 285 and right next to James Jackson Parkway.
