Parker is a suburban neighborhood close to Downtown Atlanta and Decatur
Parker, a suburban community, carries a lot of convenience. It sits near Interstate 20, and though it is an Atlanta neighborhood, it is closer to Decatur’s shopping and dining options than to Downtown Atlanta. Several green spaces are also close by. For some, the neighborhood can be seen as a bargain. “People can find something cost-effective here while still being five minutes from a lot of things,” says Casey Dellinger, a Realtor with Bolst Inc.
The Parker neighborhood has a good mix of single family homes, townhomes, and nearby commercial shopping options.

Ranch-style houses, townhomes and farmhouses for relatively low prices
Ranch-style homes often range from $200,000 to $415,000. Recently built townhomes, mostly found in cul-de-sacs off Flat Shoals Road, can go from $210,000 to $350,000. Larger farmhouses and Craftsman-style homes can sell for between $430,000 and $700,000. “You can save between $250,000 and $500,000 here compared with the city of Decatur,” Dellinger says. “And it’s still a short drive or bike ride away.” Roads are surrounded by tall oak and pine trees. Front lawns often feature bushes or smaller trees.

Access to two cities and MARTA public transportation
Interstate 20 runs south of the neighborhood. It can take drivers into Downtown Atlanta, which is just over 5 miles west. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is around 15 miles away. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, known as MARTA, operates buses that make several stops along Flat Shoals Road at the community’s southern end. Though the community can experience tornadoes and hurricanes, storms are not much of a concern for residents. “The area gets the tail end of severe weather that starts in Texas or Louisiana,” Dellinger says. “It’s usually pretty subdued by that time.”
Southeast Atlanta includes the busiest passenger airport in the world.
