She's sold homes in neighborhoods across Atlanta for over a decade. "The nature preserve is nice because it protects some of the green space there, and you can go hiking." The neighborhood has a slightly elevated noise factor close to Interstates 75 and 85 and the airport. "You can hear the action of the airport, but the parks around the neighborhood help dampen some of that noise," St. George says.

Mid-century ranch-style homes at comparably low prices
The neighborhood features just over 200 homes primarily built in the 1950s, '60s and '70s. Most are red-brick, ranch-style homes that measure from 750 to 1,500 square feet with two to three bedrooms. They sit on leafy lots just under a quarter-acre, shaded by towering pines and maples; fallen leaves fill yards and streets in October. Part of the neighborhood is pretty hilly, and a few homes sit on slopes. Homes here typically list from $130,000 to $350,000. Homes needing a few repairs usually list closer to the $130,000 mark. According to St. George, the community's low housing prices are a major draw.

Hiking the Swann Nature Preserve and trips to South Bend Park
Much of the neighborhood comprises the Swann Nature Preserve, a protected patch of dense forest home to a portion of the South River. At the preserve's heart is the Southtowne Trail, a predominantly paved trail bounded by towering trees and busy with cyclists and hikers. The trail, stretching 3 miles, extends north to South Bend Park – a community recreation hub. South Bend sprawls across 77 acres, featuring a picnic pavilion, playground and sports facilities. The area is mainly car-dependent, but MARTA bus stops are available along Swallow Circle and Macon Drive. Interstates 75 and 85 are accessible about 2 miles west, leading 5 miles north into downtown Atlanta. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is about 6 miles away, accessible via I-75 and I-85. "It's a great location if you want to hop over to the airport easily," St. George says. Grady Memorial Hospital, one of the nearest hospitals, is about 5 miles north. The neighborhood is also home to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Shopping needs along Cleveland Avenue and Metropolitan Parkway
Residents mainly head to Cleveland Avenue for shopping needs. Piggly Wiggly is about 3 miles south, and Kroger and Walmart Supercenter are about 4 miles away. Cleveland Avenue also has gas stations, service businesses and independently owned restaurants. Walter's Soul Food Café, located about 3 miles away, offers pit barbecue ribs and beef brisket among various sides. Metropolitan Parkway also features several stores, including the Atlanta Flea Market Metro Mart, a 100,000-square-foot building with over 100 shops. Also along Metropolitan Parkway is Kemper's Café, a popular Jamaican restaurant with staples like jerk chicken and curry shrimp.
