The high school features a 12-to-1 student-teacher ratio and is known for its diverse student population. The school also has a renowned friendly rivalry with nearby Pleasantville High School, which culminates in an annual basketball game known as the "Battle of the Bay."
Atlantic City High School has 1,764 students in grades 9-12.

Long walks along the boardwalk
Though there aren't any parks in the neighborhood, the coastal location provides ample opportunity for fishing, boating and other water activities. The Boardwalk is another popular location for long walks and taking in the scenery, and residents are within walking distance from this iconic spot. Gardner’s Basin, a nearby maritime park, includes an aquarium, boat tours and waterfront dining, making it a popular destination for both tourists and local families.
Many of Atlantic City's famous restaurants can be found near Westside on the boardwalk.

Shopping and dining in Westside
Though the neighborhood itself is mostly residential, it's close to the heart of the city and lots of shopping and dining. Atlantic Avenue is closeby and includes local favorite Tony’s Baltimore Grill, known for its Italian-American cuisine and late-night service. Kelsey & Kim’s Southern Café serves elevated soul food and spins on traditional comfort food. Tanger Outlets – also known as The Walk – is just a short drive away and offers a range of stores and restaurants. Groceries are available nearby at Save A Lot.

Commuting on Atlantic City Expressway
Westside benefits from several transportation options, including the Atlantic City Expressway for traveling to other parts of the city and beyond. Public transportation, particularly buses, ensures residents can get around the area easily. “From Westside, you can walk to the Boardwalk pretty quickly,” says Rivera. “And with a short drive or bus ride, you can be anywhere else in the city in minutes.” Additionally, the Atlantic City Rail Line allows residents to travel to Philadelphia and other nearby areas.

Revitalization, new development and community initiatives
Westside has a CAP crime index of 6, which is higher than the national average of 4. In recent years, the community has been working to improve safety, reduce crime and provide more resources for residents through neighborhood watches. A community policing program dedicated two resource officers to assist with day-to-day life in the neighborhood. Westside, like much of Atlantic City, features ongoing efforts to revitalize certain parts of the area, with several projects aimed at infrastructure and public spaces in particular.
There's tons to do along the Atlantic City Boardwalk just outside of Westside.
Beaches near Westside are overlooked by the giant ferris wheel on Steel Pier.
