Cloverleaf’s ties to Auburn University
In the 10-year span between 1964 and 1974, Auburn University’s enrollment took off, increasing from less than 10,000 students to over 15,000. As the school increased in size — hiring faculty and staff members to account for the enrollment increase — the city of Auburn grew with it. Neighborhoods like Cloverleaf, located just south of campus, sprung up to accommodate many of the new professors and other Auburn employees. Today, Cloverleaf serves much the same purpose, with quick commutes to campus as well as access to great public schools for families.

Older ranch and newer farmhouse-style homes
Set along rolling suburban roads, Cloverleaf was mainly built in the 1970s. The neighborhood’s original ranch-style homes contrast with some of the newer farmhouse-style builds. “A lot of the old homes are being turned over and renovated,” says Lori Fuller, Realtor with eXp Realty Southern Branch. “It’s a lot of professors and administration from the university that live here.” The ranch homes start in the high $300,000s and can go as high as $600,000, while the farmhouses generally go between $500,000 and $600,000.

For a night out, residents of Cloverleaf will often head the mile and a half to downtown Auburn. “In Auburn, pretty much everyone goes downtown,” Fuller says. “I feel like in some college towns families might not go downtown, since it’s getting pretty wild with college kids, but that’s not true in Auburn. You’ll see strollers with college students everywhere. It’s a good mix.” Several restaurants sit off College Street the opposite way, including Acapulco’s Mexican Grill, serving tacos and enchiladas, and East Sea Fishery, a local favorite for sushi. Further down College Street, Walmart offers groceries and other essentials flanked by fast food like Krystal and Arby’s.
