Large homes off Richland Road
To keep up with Auburn's growing population, development west of downtown has ramped up the past couple of decades, especially off Richland Road. While a number of new subdivisions have sprung up in the area, Cotswold stands out, offering the largest, most expensive homes in the quiet suburban expanse, plus access to a great school system. “The majority of them are five-bedroom homes, 3,000 square feet — definitely larger than Lundy Chase, which is the neighborhood next door,” says Amy Cotney, Realtor at Roots Real Estate Investment Development. “It’s a lot of people moving out there. A lot of people love it.”
Cotswold is a small neighborhood on the west side of town with homes sitting on larger lots.

New traditional homes on suburban streets
Cotswold homes are laid out along suburban drives flanked by sidewalks. Homes have two-car garages with small, well-maintained lawns and fenced-in backyards. The new traditional homes, most built in the last 15 year, often have five or six bedrooms. “In Cotswold, you get a lot of home for the price,” Cotney says. “They’re really large houses.” Houses sell between the mid-$400,000s and mid-$600,000.
Most homes in the Cotswold neighborhood are two-story homes.

Drake Middle for sixth grade, East Samford School for seventh, then Auburn Junior High for eighth and ninth. Each school scores an A rating. Auburn High School, also rated A, offers the International Baccalaureate program.
Rolling Toomer’s after a Tigers win
The Cotswold HOA requires annual dues of $350 while organizing plenty of events and get-togethers, like holiday celebrations for the community and food trucks at the neighborhood pools. As in many Southern college towns, football in the fall is the main attraction. Four miles from Cotswold, the Auburn University football team plays at Jordan-Hare Stadium, where nearly 90,000 fans pack the stands to cheer on the Tigers. Toomer’s Corner, across from Toomer’s Drugstore in downtown Auburn, serves as a gathering place before and after the game.
