Auburn City Schools earn high marks
Auburn City Schools are a big draw for parents moving to the area. Kids will likely start at Auburn Early Education Center from kindergarten until second grade, followed by Ogletree Elementary until fifth grade. Sixth graders head to J.F. Drake Middle School, and seventh graders attend East Samford School. Next up is Auburn Junior High School and, finally, Auburn High School, which is ranked as the top high school in Lee County by Niche. All schools received A grades from Niche.
College Street leads straight to Downtown Auburn
College Street, one of Auburn’s main thoroughfares, leads straight to the heart of Auburn’s downtown area and Auburn University, about 3 miles away. Harmon Estates is also minutes from Interstate 85, which is used to travel to Auburn’s sister city of Opelika as well as other major cities like Montgomery and Atlanta. Residents tend to drive to get around, as there isn’t any public transportation close by.

Trekking through the trails at Chewacla State Park
Chewacla State Park is 3 miles from Harmon Estates, and people from all over Lee County come to the 696-acre park to trek the hiking trails and relax to the sounds of the crashing water at the scenic waterfall. The park has several mountain bike-accessible trails made in partnership with the Central Alabama Mountain Peddlers, ranging from the Camp Trail, which takes bikers through a flat loop around the park’s campground, to the 3-mile CCC Trail that has steep dips and quick turns for advanced riders. Cabins are available for rent, too. “It even has glamping now,” says Lori Fuller, a Realtor with eXp Realty who has lived in the Auburn area for over 25 years. “A lot of people love that it’s easily accessible right off I-85.”
