One in a series of subdivisions built at the end of Richland Road in Auburn, Lundy Chase offers a serene suburban setting for the diverse array of people who call it home. “Lundy’s got a little bit of everybody,” says Amy Cotney, a Realtor at Roots Real Estate Investment Development. “The houses are a little smaller than surrounding neighborhoods, almost a cottage feel. It’s a good place for first-time homebuyers.”

Smaller, less expensive homes than nearby neighborhoods
Lundy Chase homes sit on small lots with attached garages and fenced-in backyards. The farmhouse-style builds were mostly built in the last 15 years, with prices in the mid-$200,000s up to nearly $400,000. “The homes in Lundy are all different sizes, but definitely smaller than nearby neighborhoods like Cotswold,” Cotney says. The Lundy Homeowners Association, which charges $285 in annual dues, includes access to a neighborhood pool and playground.

High marks for Auburn City Schools
Top-rated Auburn City Schools serve Lundy Chase, with students starting at Richland Elementary followed by Creekside Elementary for third through fifth grade. Each school receives an A-plus grade from Niche. J.F. Drake Middle School follows for sixth grade, while seventh-grade students attend East Samford School and eighth and ninth-graders head to Auburn Junior High. All three schools sport an A grade. Ranked the 12th-best public school in the state, A-rated Auburn High School offers the International Baccalaureate program for its students.

Less than a mile from the neighborhood, the Yarbrough Tennis Center serves up 33 tennis courts. But despite quick growth in the area around Lundy Chase, currently there are no parks off Richland Road. Instead, residents drive 3 miles to either Kiesel Park or Hickory Dickory Park. That may change soon, however, as Auburn’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan calls for the development of Richland Park, which would be within walking distance of the neighborhood. The concept includes five soccer fields, six baseball and softball fields, a recreation center and paths around an existing lake. “The plan has changed around, but they need to have that,” Cotney says.

A night out in downtown Auburn

Shug Jordan Parkway leads to Donahue Drive, about 3 miles away, where there's newer fast-food options like Marco’s Pizza and Milo’s Hamburgers. Rolling Toomer’s Corner after a Tigers win
The HOA maintains the pool and holds small-scale events for the community. But when fall comes around, nearly the entire city rallies around college football. A little under 5 miles from downtown Auburn, Lundy Chase sits surrounded by untouched woods near the end of Richland Road. The distance from downtown ensures some peace and quiet, but residents are a little further from work, shopping and entertainment. Auburn University, the area’s largest employer, is a three-mile drive. A mile and a half away, Shug Jordan Parkway operates as a beltway, taking drivers around the city, including south to Interstate 85. Atlanta and its international airport are 100 miles northeast.
