Residential community 5 miles from downtown Auburn
The small residential community of Woodland Park is located at the western city limits of Auburn, 5 miles from downtown and just a few miles from Auburn University. Along with a community pool, Woodland Park has access to a private lake and also boasts a highly rated school district. “A lot of people prefer to be out there to be away from everything but still be a quick drive to downtown,” says Jon Lomax, an agent at LURE Ludlum Real Estate in Auburn. The neighborhood has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, far lower than the national average of 4.

College football each fall
Auburn holds many events yearly, but its most significant is Auburn CityFest, which is held each spring at Kiesel Park. The free festival offers family entertainment, musical acts, and food vendors. The city also has an annual Christmas parade, which draws attendees downtown each December. But college football is the city’s heartbeat, and over 80,000 fans pack Jordan-Hare Stadium on Auburn University’s campus every game day. Visitors pour into the city for football, increasing population and traffic. Woodland Park is less affected due to its location.

Woodland Park sits just off Alabama Highway 14 west of Auburn. The neighborhood is car-dependent, though Lee-Russell Public Transit offers a Dial-A-Ride service for residents to call and reserve door-to-door bus service. Downtown is 5 miles east with access around the city on “the loop,” the 12-mile beltway that circles the city. “It’s a straight shot on Highway 14 to downtown,” Lomax says. “You’re probably less than 10 minutes to downtown Auburn.” Meanwhile, the state capital of Montgomery is 50 miles west on Interstate 85. Atlanta is roughly 120 miles northeast on I-85, and air travelers often head to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for its wide selection of nonstop flights.
