Southeast Auburn is a quiet, hilly suburb
The hilly Southeast Auburn community offers a quiet, suburban atmosphere and lower home prices compared to other parts of the Seattle metro. "The hills are the most desirable aspect of living here," says Megan White, a Realtor with RE/MAX, who has lived in Auburn most of her life. "It's also much more affordable than other parts of the Seattle area."
Single-family homes in and around the Edgeview subdivision
About 30 miles south of Seattle, Southeast Auburn features one housing development called Edgeview. The development, which has a homeowners association, offers many Craftsman-style homes built between 2013 and 2015. Most homes are around 1,800 square feet, ranging from $600,000 to $700,000. Those with 2,500 to 4,500 square feet of living space can sell for between $800,000 to $1 million. Small fenced-in backyards allow enough room for a patio set, a small garden and an above-ground pool. Outside the development, homes come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Many are on several acres of hilly land, obscured from the street by tall Douglas firs. Prices for these homes range from $400,000 to $1 million.
Above-average Auburn School District serves Southeast Auburn
Auburn School District, which gets a B from Niche, serves Squak Mountain. Students may attend Gildo Rey Elementary School, which gets a B-minus from Niche, Mt. Baker Middle School (B-minus) and Auburn Riverside High (B-plus).
Game Farm Wilderness Park outdoor recreation, White River Amphitheater
Game Farm Wilderness Park has miles of hiking trails by the White River, appropriately named due to its milky blue color caused by glacial meltwater. It’s also home to the wooded, 18-hole White River Disc Golf Course, which is open year-round. Across the river, Game Farm Park has pickleball courts and turf soccer fields. The White River Amphitheater is about 8 miles away. "They have amazing concerts at the amphitheater," says White, "It's on a two-lane road, so getting home can take a long time, but if you know your back roads, you can get out of there pretty easily."
Close to Lakeland Town Center shopping and dining
The closest places to shop and eat are about two miles south in the planned community of Lakeland Hills. The Lakeland Town Center shopping plaza has a Haggen grocery store and several restaurants, including popular regional chains like Hops ‘n Drops, a gastropub known for its hamburgers and craft beer. The Rock is famous for its rock-n-roll theme and specialty pizzas.
Interstate 5 connects to Seattle and Tacoma
It's about an 8-mile drive to access Interstate 5, making for a 30-mile trip north to Seattle and a 17-mile drive west to Tacoma.
