Heather Ridge
From golf games to waterslide runs
The Heather Ridge Golf Course runs throughout the neighborhood’s eastern section. Established in 1972, this formerly private course was made public in 2010. Golfers often play games for $50 or less. Just north of the neighborhood, Utah Park invites visitors to explore more than 45 acres of fields, trails and athletic facilities surrounding a central pond. Its indoor pool creates year-round aquatic excitement with a winding waterslide and a massive tipping bucket. The similarly sized Jewell Wetlands Park also neighbors Heather Ridge to the north. This wildlife conservation area offers a serene experience with a butterfly garden and nature-enveloped trails. About 1 mile south is the massive Cherry Creek State Park, with hiking and biking trails and a reservoir. “It’s one of the only places nearby where you can have a motorized boat and go have fun on the water,” says Realtor Landin Smith of RE/MAX Professionals.Condos, townhouses and single-family homes available
“Heather Ridge is generally tailored to a golfing community,” says Realtor Jason Morris of eXp Realty, who hosts a YouTube channel about living in Aurora. Golfers may be drawn to condominium communities like Cobblestone Crossing, where some homes back up directly to the fairway. Another condo cluster, Willow Ridge, features a clubhouse, a pool and tennis courts. Homebuyers can also find townhouses with attached garages. Detached homes are concentrated in the neighborhood’s southwest corner, with New Traditional, Colonial Revival, and ranch-style builds. Prices start at around $180,000 for one-bedroom condos and hover around $350,000 for two-bedroom townhouses. Four-bedroom single-family homes can reach $735,000.Home to a STEM-focused high school
Students in western Heather Ridge attend Ponderosa Elementary School, while those to the east attend Eastridge Community Elementary. They spend their later school years at the neighborhood’s Overland-Prairie Campus, starting with classes at Prairie Middle School. It has a B-minus from Niche, as do both elementary schools. After eighth grade, students move next door from Prairie Middle to Overland High School, rated a B-plus. Here, students can join a career concentration in a STEM field at The Institute of Science and Technology. This 58,000-square-foot facility helps interested students prepare for aerospace, health sciences and engineering careers through elective courses and clubs.Major retailers just blocks away
Noonan’s Sports Bar & Grill is perched beside the golf course and is the local go-to spot for classic pub food and happy hours. Friends can catch up over a game of pool or dine on the patio on more temperate days. Down the road, trivia whizzes can show off their knowledge with weekly competitions at Challengers Sports Bar. This locally owned pub specializes in Chicago-style pizza and famous green chili. Most locals are within 2 miles of the nearest grocery store, like H Mart and Arash International Market. Lowe’s Home Improvement, Costco Wholesale and other prominent retailers operate nearby.Quick interstate and commuter rail access
Interstate 225 runs alongside Heather Ridge to the east, connecting drivers to other regional arteries like Interstates 25 and 70. It also offers about a 20-mile drive to Denver International Airport. Iliff Station, a stop on the RTD rail line, operates just across the interstate. “It’s popular, especially for condo buyers who want to save some money and commute to downtown Denver quickly,” Smith says. Train rides into the city take about 40 minutes.
