Ranch-style homes, split-levels and two-story Colonial Revivals are common throughout the neighborhood, with mature trees shading yards and neighborhood walkways. “These homes are often priced higher because of the larger lot size,” says Realtor Jason Morris of eXp Realty. Two to three-bedroom condos and townhomes range from around $290,000 to the mid $300,000s, while single-family homes start in the upper $300,000s and reach the mid $400,000s. Most houses were built throughout the 1970s.

Aurora public schools with great programs
Local students can attend Altura Elementary School, which offers extensive English language learning opportunities for both enrolled students and their parents through the Family Literacy Program. The Community College of Aurora partners with local high schools for dual enrollment courses.

Transportation and commuting to Denver
“This part of town is conveniently located and is super accessible to public transit,” says Joshua Zelcer, a Realtor with Brokers Guild Real Estate and a member of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. “Plus, I-225 is conveniently located nearby.” US Route 287, also known as East Colfax Avenue, travels east to west on the neighborhood’s southern border and is lined with bus stops operated by the Regional Transportation District. The 13th Avenue Light Rail station is also close by. Drivers also have easy access to Interstate 225 and Interstate 70, which provide a direct route to downtown Denver that takes between 25 and 35 minutes, depending on traffic. Denver International Airport is roughly 12 miles away. For medical emergencies, UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital is only 2.7 miles west.
Outdoor recreation
Neighborhood trails connect walkers and bikers to the trail system of Star K Ranch, a 250-acre nature preserve just north of Norfolk Glen. “We have a lot of people who bring their dogs out on leashes and go for daily walks, and others who will come and do their own nature exploration with their kids,” explains David Footle, a Natural Resource Technician for Star K Ranch. The Morris Nature Center is an educational hotspot within the open space where people can learn about the local ecosystem and enjoy rotating exhibits. Footle continues, “The center was originally converted from a ranch house, and we’ve tried to maintain that cozy, homey feel for people.” For more outdoor recreation, locals can hop on the Colorado Front Range Trail to connect with the 71-mile High Line Canal Trail, popular among hikers and bikers. Aurora Sports Park is a few miles east in Kirkegaard Acres, with a dozen baseball diamonds and over 20 multi-use fields.
Morrison Nature Center in Star K Ranch is a great place to teach your kids about ecology.
