European charm meets Colorado living in Saddle Rock

Amongst Aurora’s sprawling landscape, Saddle Rock offers a combination of refined living and Colorado charm. This enclave is an oasis where locals can drive their golf carts to their neighbor’s house for an afternoon charcuterie board and a glass of white wine. As you journey through Saddle Rock’s streets, an eclectic mix of architectural marvels dot every corner. Grand Mediterranean-inspired residences sit harmoniously alongside modern Colorado farmhouses surrounding the golf course community. “It’s a planned community with a European feel. Here, you can find anything from condos to fully custom builds,” says Kathleen Surges, broker associate at Compass Realty, who is local to the neighborhood and has sold homes around Colorado since 2002.

Luxury homes feature mountain views and horse-friendly lots

Houses in the neighborhood range from luxury condominiums starting in the mid $300,000s to town houses from the mid $400,000s to the high $500,000s. Those looking for a single-family home can find a range of traditional and Craftsman-style homes, typically in the mid $700,000s to $800,000s. However, an extensive range of homes sells for over $1 million, where homeowners can enjoy ranch living on their 2 acre lots while their horses graze in the distance. These houses often boast stately exteriors, marked by ornate archways and stucco siding with a touch of stone accents, giving way to grand interiors bathed in light, where floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping views of the Rocky Mountain horizon.

Students attend top-ranked Cherry Creek School District

Students in the neighborhood attend the highly ranked Cherry Creek School District, beginning with Creekside Elementary School and Liberty Middle School, both of which score an A-minus on Niche. “The schools are a draw for many people looking to move in the area,” Surges says. Grandview High School, raving in its stellar A-plus rating, offers Advanced Placement courses, where 51% of the student population participates in at least one AP course. Another popular school in the neighborhood is the Montessori School of Cherry Creek, where children are taught independence and creative thinking at a young age.

Golf, parks and pools offer plenty of outdoor fun

At the heart of Saddle Rock is its glamorous golf course – a sprawling green oasis meticulously designed to challenge enthusiasts and welcome beginners. Here, golfers tee under the vast Colorado sky while the clubhouse comes alive at night with patrons laughing and glasses clinking. The neighborhood is also home to Saddle Rock Community Center, where kids can splash around in the pool while tennis pros practice their swing on the courts. Those seeking a glimpse of the great outdoors can head to Larkspur Park for a walk along the paved paths, shadowed by towering oak trees. Another small playground in the neighborhood, Ottawa Park, is accentuated by pristine landscaping along East Ottawa Circle.

Shopping centers and restaurants line nearby roads

The neighborhood is surrounded by multiple shopping centers, providing convenience on almost every corner. Saddle Rock Village is home to Target and Starbucks, while Saddle Rock Shopping Center hosts Safeway and The Home Depot. Just around the corner is Sprouts Farmers Market for those who prefer organic options. While a 3 mile drive leads to the massive Southlands Shopping Mall, which hosts a farmers market on Saturday mornings, Surges says. Winchell’s Donut House, one of the few cafes in the neighborhood along South Liverpool Street, offers sweet treats and coffee. Local restaurants and breweries are also close by, such as Smoky Hill Indian Cuisine, where one can delight in savory spices, or locally owned The Rock Restaurant and Bar for a Pancho Burger served on Texas toast and a cold, draft pint after a long day. A mere 15 miles away is the vibrant heart of downtown Aurora, the third largest city in Colorado, with its bustling shopping centers and art hubs. With Smoky Hill Road scattered with bus routes and access to E-470 and US Route 83 nearby, entertainment options extend far beyond the elegant community of Saddle Rock, but they don’t have to.
