Copperfield

Victorian-inspired homes at a fraction of Austin prices
Mature oak trees tower over Copperfield’s gridded streets and cul-de-sacs. Many homes are inspired by Folk Victorian architecture, with patterned wood shingles, asymmetrical roof lines and turned spindles. The area also has split-level and ranch-style homes in a variety of colors. “It still has what I would say are lower-priced homes as compared to the average price in Austin,” Odiorne says, pointing to savings of more than $100,000. Most homes range from $250,000 to $500,000, although bigger homes with extra amenities like a pool can cost more than $700,000. The area also has a smattering of condos, which range from $250,000 to $325,000 for two bedrooms.
Miles of trails close to the Walnut Creek Greenbelt
Starting at Copperfield Park, nature trails abound in nearly every direction. In addition to the playground and picnic tables, locals enjoy walking under tall, shady trees along the Copperfield Nature Trail. The unpaved trail partially encircles the neighborhood and follows Walnut Creek, where hikers can see small waterfalls when the creek is flowing. Hikers who follow the trail can reach the Walnut Creek Greenbelt, a rugged area with miles of paved and unpaved paths that will eventually stretch from Govalle Park up to Balcones District Park thanks to an expansion project.
Career programs at John B. Connally High School
Copperfield is split into two school districts: The Pflugerville Independent School District serves the northern part of Copperfield while the Austin Independent School District serves the southern part. Students can attend Copperfield Elementary School, graded B-minus by Niche, before going to Westview Middle School, which received a C-plus, followed by B-graded John B. Connally High School, which offers career and technology education programs including culinary arts, video game design, robotics and video technology.
Shopping at Tech Ridge Center
Locals can grab groceries at H-E-B or Walmart in Tech Ridge Center, which also has chain restaurants such as MOD Pizza and In-N-Out. Copperfield has its fair share of chains, including Waffle House and Dutch Bros Coffee. A little closer to home, Vietnamese restaurant Pho Phong Luu specializes in savory noodle soup. Mi Casa Market, a large supermarket on the southern edge of the neighborhood, has a taqueria inside. Copperfield is also less than 4 miles from Chinatown Center, a shopping and restaurant complex on North Lamar Boulevard. When it’s time for fun, residents can watch a movie at the AMC Theater or unwind with bowling and a bite to eat at Pinstack. There’s also Holiday and Harvest, a Christmas tree farm and store that hosts year-round holiday events like pick-your-own Christmas trees and a pumpkin patch.
Close to Interstate 35
Copperfield is about 12 miles north of downtown Austin and about 18 miles north of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Residents can hop on Interstate 35 to get to everything downtown Austin has to offer, or take East Parmer Lane to head to Cedar Park and Leander. Most residents own a car, but several CapMetro bus stops dot the neighborhood.Houses of worship
Diverse residents call Copperfield home, as reflected in its numerous houses of worship, including multilingual Catholic and Protestant churches, as well as a Hindu temple and a Masjid on the west side of I-35.
