Finding convenience outside of downtown Baltimore
Situated along Herring Run Park off Belair Road, Arcadia serves as a suburban retreat in northeast Baltimore, just 4 miles from downtown. The neighborhood typically attracts people who “want to be near the city and its attractions, but who also want a bigger yard and more trees,” says Marc Hagerthey, long-time area resident and Realtor with RE/MAX. “The nice thing about this community is you’ve got that suburban feel, easier parking and walkability, but you’re still close to the amenities. I’m 15 minutes from Costco, and I can still get downtown for an Orioles game.” Arcadia sits near plenty of outdoor recreation, with proximity to Herring Run Park and Lake Montebello. With an overall CAP Index Crime Score of 3 out of 10, the area has one of the lowest scores in the city.
A stone’s throw away from large city parks
One of the neighborhood’s biggest draws is next-door access to Lake Montebello and Herring Run Park. While visitors don’t swim or boat on the lake, the paved walkway around its perimeter is a popular spot for bikers, walkers and roller skaters. The lake also has an open grass area and a disc golf course. Herring Run Park provides miles of hiking trails that track all the way to Interstate 895, as well as playgrounds, soccer fields and ball fields. The park hosts plenty of private and community events, from free yoga and tai chi classes to bird walks and 5K fundraisers. On the other side of Herring Run sits Clifton Park, known for its golf course, tennis courts and multiuse fields. Clifton has a Community Food Forest, which works to harvest produce for the city’s food deserts. Walkers can also admire the grounds of the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, which houses the striking, early 20th-century Furst Chapel mausoleum, among other well-kept monuments.
Herring Run Park offers Arcadia residents a quiet escape from city life.
