Streets lined with historic rowhouse
Housing options in Berea consist exclusively of traditional Baltimore rowhouses, with slight variations in style depending on the period in which the house was built. Prospective buyers can choose from homes built between 1890-1925, featuring Italianate and Renaissance Revival styles; homes constructed during 1914-1925, featuring brown-brick Daylight-styles, with front porches designed to allow as much sunlight in as possible; or opt for early 1930s and 40s Colonial Revival styles featuring red-brick facades. “The homes are on the smaller side,” says Fraser. “And it’s an established neighborhood, so there are very few new builds.” Though house sizes are pretty consistent, the yards vary in size, ranging from large, manicured lawns with room for rose gardens and shrubbery to low-maintenance paved front porches. Homes that need renovation range in price from $30,000- $100,000, with the average cost being $70,000. Turnkey homes tend to fetch a higher price, ranging from $150,000- $300,000, with the average price hovering around $200,000.
