A cozy, quiet nook
Butchers Hill, named for the butchers who lived and worked here in the early 19th century, is a Southeastern Baltimore neighborhood that provides a calmer respite from the hubbub of downtown Baltimore while also allowing for quick access to the city’s amenities. “A lot of young professionals move here for the proximity to The Johns Hopkins Hospital,” says Shannon Smith, a local and Realtor with nine years of experience selling in the greater Baltimore area. “They work during the day and then are close enough to experience city life at night while still getting to go home to a cozy, quiet nook.” Residents also enjoy the benefits of the Butchers Hill neighborhood association, which provides property guidelines, neighborhood news and events throughout the year, such as the Fall Flea Market & Craft Fair. Local gardens and pocket parks, such as Charles M. Halcott Square or Castle Street Park, provide peaceful green spaces right outside residents’ backyards.
