Cedonia
Neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland
Baltimore City 21206
Townhouses with no HOAs
“Cedonia is a neighborhood of townhouses,” Savage says. “Most were constructed in the late 1950s and early 1960s and feature three bedrooms.” Many homes have red-brick or half-brick, half-wood facades and feature original hardwood flooring, updated kitchens and bathrooms, front porches with decorative awnings and second-floor dormer windows. Depending on their size and outdoor amenities, such as back patios, listings can range from $130,000 to $250,000. Another benefit to some homebuyers is that no HOAs are associated with these properties, and the neighborhood is evenly split between renters and owners. While most areas are free from flooding, homes adjacent to Moore’s Run Park, where there’s a creek, could see some impact.Places to escape outdoors
Residents can explore the creek and woodlands at Moore’s Run Park along the edge of the neighborhood. Pocket parks like Silver Bell tempt kids in the area with swing sets and open fields. Nearby Radecke Park features two baseball diamonds and athletic fields, and the nearby Garden Village Park, includes a playground, basketball courts and picnic pavilions, with the added benefit of a mature tree cover. Garden Village Park also features natural areas that help visitors relax and escape the city.Schools that motivate
Students who live in Cedonia attend Baltimore City Public Schools, such as Hazelwood Elementary/Middle School, which received a C-minus from Niche. While Hazelwood’s reading and math proficiencies are low, students have many enrichment opportunities that motivate achievement, such as flag football, cross country, running, basketball, cheerleading and robotics. Patterson High School, which scored a C-minus, too, is the most diverse high school in Baltimore City, with students from over 30 countries who speak more than 15 primary languages. Students can choose from over a dozen career pathways, 11 AP classes, multiple visual and performing arts classes, and 30 different sports.Community events and celebrations
The Cedonia Community Association holds events throughout the year that unite neighbors, such as its annual Christmas tree lighting and holiday party at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in mid-December. Other events include a back-to-school backpack giveaway, prayer walks and community meetings to discuss the new design and programs offered at the new Gardenville Recreation Center, which will serve the community.I-95, CityLink and BWI
For those who commute, Cedonia features direct proximity to Interstate 95. Residents can zip over to neighboring communities or head into Downtown Baltimore, a 7-mile trip. The MTA or Maryland Transit Administration CityLink buses get riders downtown in about 45 minutes. Baltimore/Washington International Airport is 20 miles to the south, and Amtrak trains leave from Baltimore’s Penn Station.Shopping near Cedonia
