Cherry Hill's roots run deep in Baltimore's African American history
The neighborhood of Cherry Hill in South Baltimore traces its roots back to the end of World War II. A historically African American community, Cherry Hill was a planned suburb, designed to provide housing for the influx of Black steelworkers, returned military veterans and their families circa 1945. Spanning 275 acres on the Cherry Hill Peninsula, this neighborhood offered residents a variety of housing options, including bungalows, two-storied rowhomes and over 1,200 multi-family units. Evolving over time, Cherry Hill has weathered the ups and downs that go hand-in-hand with urban living and disinvestment, and today is known as a place of culture, revitalization and new growth.
Cherry Hill non-profits aim to improve the community
Cherry Hill benefits from local non-profit organizations like the Cherry Hill Development Corporation, or CHDC, which works to promote community equity through activities, including weekly soup kitchens, food pantries and community gardens. Similarly, the Cherry Hill Strong organization is partnering with local residents to advocate for and improve their community’s well-being in the areas of education, economic vitality and housing.

i can basically get essentials from around here but the stores are not appealing to the eyes a lot of times. And this shows signs of poor maintenance. Most businesses around here don't care much because they have a monopoly and the lack of competition makes them relax.

I spent months applying for jobs as far as 30 miles out of the area because employment opportunities are practically non-existent. Lots of people here work retail jobs or store jobs that they are not passionate about just to survive and earn daily bread.

I have heard reports about crimes but I have not experienced any. There is fair police visibility because there is a police station in the neighborhood.
