Welcome to Frankford! Home to over 18,000 residents, this community in northeast Baltimore is one of the most populated in the city. Despite its size, residents commonly refer to Frankford as a quiet oasis, a peaceful place where folks head indoors by 8 p.m. to relax.

Featuring a wide range of housing options, prospective buyers can choose from single-family homes in mid-century styles like cottages, bungalows and ramblers, or opt for tall & narrow wood-framed Victorians complete with wrap-a-round front porches. Town house and row home options feature a mix of red-brick, stone and wood-paneled facades. The average housing cost here is $270,000 with price points varying depending on the age, size, and condition of the property. Newly constructed homes featuring five bedrooms and two and a half baths, can go for upwards of $325,000, while town house and row home options tend to stay around $175,000 to $200,000. “It may not have the rah-rah of other areas like Hamilton-Lauraville, but it’s certainly a good deal” adds Knight.

For all your daily needs, nearby Bel Air Road offers seemingly endless retail options, including gas stations, drugstores, casual eateries, and an Aldi grocery store. For more shopping options, head over to Parkside Shopping Plaza which features a Giant Food supermarket, Roses Discount Store, clothing stores, laundromats and more.

For some delicious homemade treats don’t miss local staple, Woodlea Bakery. Established in 1943, this family-owned and operated spot is serving up cakes, pies, and seasonal treats every day except for Mondays. Check out their glass display case, to choose from cookies, donuts, and pastries, then get ready for that sugar rush.

Time for dinner but don’t feel like cooking? No problem at all! Bel Air Road also features an assortment of different cuisines, from African to Thai to Italian. Scroll through your phone then order take-out from your favorite. Or if you’re looking for a quick bite en route, check out Hip Hop Fish and Chicken. Order some whiting, trout or catfish to go; or opt for the fried chicken dinner. Whichever you choose you can’t go wrong, this place specializes in both.

On Saturdays check out some tasty pours at the Oliver Brewing Company tasting room. Established in 1993, this place is serving up craft beers like their Vol. 4 Blue Crab pale ale, or their sour Fruit Can Man. For beer on the go, you can also order pickup or delivery options.

Students of Frankford attend Baltimore City Public Schools, like Furley Elementary, Vanguard Collegiate Middle and Paul Laurence Dunbar High. Serving over 390 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades, Furley Elementary offers ESOL coursework as well as a gifted and talented curriculum too. Sitting directly adjacent to Furley Elementary School residents will also find the Herring Run Recreation Center. The center hosts a variety of classes, theatre productions, arts and crafts sessions, and gym activities. The perfect place for a get-together, you can also reserve their venue space, for your own special event.

For outdoor fun, Moore’s Run Park is the perfect place to explore the area’s woodlands, tributaries, and wildlife. Less than 2-miles away, residents can also enjoy nearby Herring Run Park. Featuring a wonderful tree canopy, soccer and rugby fields, and a stream running down the middle, this park’s 375-acres are a nature lover’s haven.

And when it’s time for a change of pace, residents can always head into Downtown Baltimore to visit the Inner Harbor, explore the Aquarium, or catch an Orioles game. Offering all this and more, it should come as no surprise that Frankford is the place people want to be.

It's not very safe, and it seems like you can't go out without having to be afraid of what might happen

The four seasons in their area I believe to be the best of them all. I love winter and spring to see the rebirth of natural and for the beautiful snow. Sometimes it may get too high in inches and it's hard to travel but we still make it through the day. The summer is extremely hot and dry but not anything out the usual. The thunderstorms aren't too serious but it's no fun to be in. And of course fall is lovely, to see the leaves change and to admire them with someone you admire or love is beautiful.

there are a variety of businesses but most of them are owned by big companies. The ones not owned are usually hair-care stores
