Inner Harbor
Suburban Neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland
Baltimore City 21201, 21202
Luxury condos with harbor views
There are not many homes in Inner Harbor. Most of the area is a city center for commerce, so those tall buildings usually house offices, though some do contain apartment rentals too. But some residencies near the southern ends of the harbor, such as the Ritz-Carlton Residences, offer luxury condo living in an already-exclusive area. Those living in properties such as these get to walk right onto the waterfront from their buildings, many of which offer amenities that make day-to-day living practically thoughtless, such as community spaces, concierge services, parking garages and balconies with harbor views. But these are some of the most expensive properties in downtown Baltimore, with many selling for up to $750,000 or well above $1 million.Panoramic, waterfront skateparks
Inner Harbor is one of the most breathtaking areas of Baltimore for those who love a good city or waterscape. A promenade surrounds most of the Harbor, leaving behind many spots for panoramic views of the river and Baltimore skyline. Practically all of the southwestern parts of the promenade are a chain of city parks. Each offers a unique activity of its own, such as a splashpad at West Shore Park. Further down, one can find Rash Field Park, where locals head to do all sorts of activities, such as rent kayaks, practice kickflips at the local skatepark, play a game of soccer or simply go to take in the sights and sounds of the Harbor.Parkside technology schools
Students around the Inner Harbor typically join with their neighbors to the south in Riverside, with most young students beginning at Thomas Johnson K-8, which gets a score of B from Niche. Older students get to learn in the shadow of Federal Hill Park at Digital Harbor High, which gets a C-minus from Niche and uses a technology-focused curriculum.Festivals and Fleet Week
The Pier Six Pavilion features live outdoor music throughout the year. But that is far from the only way to hang with fellow Baltimoreans, considering most of the city's largest public events happen either on the harbor or nearby locations, such as the Fells Point Fall Fest. But without a doubt, the most essential event to Inner Harbor is Fleet Week, which happens every June and offers visitors rare chances to see stunning arrays of ships while bopping in and out of booths for local vendors.Water taxi to groceries
Residents will enjoy their proximity to popular downtown attractions, but getting around isn't always the easiest unless travelers rely on the sidewalk or work immediately nearby. Most commutes and errands will rely on a car, though the Camden MARC Station, located four blocks west, provides easy rail access. When looking to hop across the Patapsco, several water taxi's cut out trips up around the Harbor, which helps trim down on time spent traveling to the grocery store, the closest of which is across the Patapsco in Harbor East or 2 miles south in Riverside.Old Bay on the seaport
To run out of things to do in Inner Harbor might take a lifetime spent there. There are the big-ticket items, of course, such as touring the USS Constellation, visiting the National Aquarium or enriching oneself at the Maryland Science Center. But Inner Harbor also has plenty of nooks and crannies that small businesses shine through. Many are on the water, such as the Rusty Scupper, where locals head to taste Maryland’s famous blue crabs in a soup, dip or cakes, always smothered with Old Bay Seasoning. When the savory sea feels too much for one's palette, sweeter options help balance things out, such as mango frozen yogurt from Flying Fruit or a milkshake from Lucky's.
