Lake Walker is a direct drive down York Road to downtown Baltimore, but traffic on that route can take almost 10 minutes longer. “It's not far to downtown, and it’s very close to Towson, which is just a couple of miles up York Road. It’s very convenient for those who want to work in the Towson Area or the downtown area,” Khan says. Drivers can choose to hop on the East Northern Parkway and then Interstate 83 to get downtown. They can also drive a bit further via Route 295 to reach the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, which is about 19 miles south of Lake Walker. The CityLink Red (RD) bus route will take residents all the way south from York Road to downtown, for those who would prefer not to drive. It’s very pleasant,” Khan says. “I would call it a grown-ups food court in that it’s got a wine store. The restaurants are kind of open to everyone, and you sit in the central area to have Asian food, wine and cheese or soups and salads. It’s very charming.” Neopol’s is a must for smoked meats, seafood, and cheese pies. The Seasoned Olive gourmet grocery store in the market has upscale pantry items, gifts and treats. “You’ve also got some old standards like Swallow at the Hollow and Zen West,” Khan says. “Right next to them is The Senator Theater, which is a great old-fashioned theater where John Waters would premiere his movies.” The Senator Theatre across the street on York Road was built in the 1930s and still maintains many of its original features and architecture.Possible flooding and traffic noise on York Road
