The area is mostly quiet, save for its proximity to the Baltimore Washington International Airport, and is bordered on its south side by the Patapsco River. Commuters can reach downtown within 20 minutes, or head to major employers like Fort Meade which is about 14 miles south. Popular grocery stores and fast-food restaurants are on nearby Washington Boulevard, while locally owned favorites can be found on Hammonds Ferry Road. With a suburban atmosphere just a few miles from the city, Lansdowne is a popular place to live a quiet lifestyle in Baltimore.

Commutes to downtown Baltimore and the nearby BWI Airport
Residents living in Lansdowne benefit from fast access to Interstate 95 and Route 295. “Living in this area means having an easy commute to a lot of big companies in Baltimore, such as Under Armor, as well as Fort Meade and NSA and NASA facilities,” Lawson says. However, “BWI isn’t far from there and because it’s an international airport it is pretty busy,” Lawson says. “There are some neighborhoods that are close to those takeoff pads so it’s possible homeowners will experience noise.” Lawson recommends spending a day in the area, whether visiting shops or driving around, to gauge possible noise levels. Johns Hopkins Hospital is about 9 miles north via Interstate 95 and can take about 30 minutes to reach, depending on traffic.
