Located just south of the West Baltimore MARC Train Station and bordering historic Franklin Square, the community of Lexington is a densely populated urban community. With proximity to the local railway, this area makes for easy commutes to and from Washington, D.C. and is also home to several auto and industrial spaces. “Lexington is a neighborhood with staying power,” says Sterling France, owner of Fran-Coa Real Estate & Management, LLC, a 40-year real estate veteran and longtime Baltimore resident. “It’s reliable, not a whole bunch of change. Many of the owners who own property here have held onto it.”
Some stand alone others don't
Lexington has a mix of two-story single-family row homes. Some are detached or semi-detached. The housing stock here includes a variety of Baltimore row homes featuring two stories, brick or stone facades and short front stoops. The median price for a single-family home is around $92,000 with houses ranging from about $30,000 to $150,000, depending on the age, size and condition of the property. “The values don’t go down because the properties continue to be maintained well,” France says.
Many of the homes in Lexington have front porch areas and small front yards.
Brick rowhomes with second floor bay windows are also popular in the Lexington neighborhood.

West Baltimore and West Franklin bringing the busyness
Lexington’s location near the center of Baltimore makes it ideal for getting downtown. However, it also presents a mixed bag when it comes to transportation and commuter traffic. North Warwick, Route 1, West Baltimore Street and the east-west running West Franklin Street are important arteries for local and through traffic, so traffic can become notably heavier during rush hours and congestion there should be expected. MTA operates bus service through the neighborhood, primarily along Pulaski Street and Baltimore Street providing a transportation alternative for residents who commute.
