The narrow streets are lined with postwar red brick townhouses, which sometimes feature modest lawns. Though the neighborhood has more renters than homeowners, many single-family properties still come on the market. Prices range from the mid-$100,000s to the lower-$300,000s and vary by square footage, age, and remodel status. “There’s a real pride of ownership in this community,” says Robert Breeden, a Realtor and President of Berkshire Hathaway Homesale Realty who’s been selling homes in the neighborhood for six years. “You’ll drive through and see people out there gardening, meticulously maintaining their lawns. It’s that kind of neighborhood, and people want to show it.”

Chinquapin Run Park is less than a mile west, with a playground, tennis courts and a nature trail along the park’s namesake creek. The smaller Overlook Park also offers wooded trails, a playground, courts for basketball and tennis, and field hockey facilities.

I like the Loch Raven area because it is relatively safe in comparison to many other inner city areas in Baltimore. Baltimore overall is an expensive place to live with not many opportunities to keep up with the constant rise in the cost of living. But the Loch Raven area to me is one of the nicer areas, while still being affordable.
