A suburban community in a central Northeast Baltimore location
Named after two of its intersecting streets, the Moravia-Walther neighborhood mostly consists of residential properties, tucked away in a quiet suburb of Northeast Baltimore. Sharing a border with the Hamilton-Lauraville area, known for its array of shopping and dining options, locals have plenty of nearby activities to choose from. “One of the best things about Moravia-Walther is the surrounding communities,” says Marc Hagerthey, long-time area resident and Realtor with RE/MAX Components. A walk down Harford Road leads to shopping centers, locally owned businesses and restaurants. Morgan State University, Herring Run Park and Lake Montebello are a few of the many other attractions within about 1 mile. Homebuyers searching in Baltimore often choose Moravia-Walther for its CAP Index Crime Score of 3, which is significantly lower than other parts of the city. With an active neighborhood improvement association, residents prioritize safety and collaboration through fundraisers, holiday parties and community cleanups.

The Walther Gardens and Nursery, acquired by The Margaret Cleveland company, has been a mainstay in the neighborhood since the 19th century. More than a gardening store, this half-acre property is complete with a white Queen Anne farmhouse at its center, offering fresh cut flowers, herbs, antique furniture and a wide array of gifts. In the summertime, visitors can try a cold treat in the garden from The Peggy snowball stand, which is the oldest in the country. In the winter, the garden hosts one of the biggest Christmas Tree sales in the area.
