Unique homes in a National Historic District
Buyers can find Craftsman-style bungalows, Dutch Colonial Revivals and American Foursquares along hilly residential streets in Windsor Hills. Homes often feature elevated front lawns dotted with trees and bushes, which adds to the community's scenic appeal. Home prices range from the mid-$200,000s to the lower-$500,000s, varying by square footage, lot size and home condition.
The city’s Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation (CHAP) approves any changes made to homes in Baltimore’s National Historic Districts, so homeowners seeking to modify or replace parts of their properties need to consult the commission beforehand. “Guidelines only apply to the exterior of the home, basically what you can do with windows, front doors, any alterations that can be seen from the street,” says Chris Cooke, a Team Leader with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services with 21 years of experience serving Maryland. “Because of that, some materials and labor costs are more expensive for upkeep.”
Many homes have unique or historic architectural designs.
