Bay Spring
Suburban Neighborhood in Barrington, Rhode Island
Bristol County 02806
New condos and larger residences
New condo developments have been going on near the business district. “Once a quaint collection of cottages, Bay Spring has evolved over the years, with many of the original homes replaced by larger family residences,” LeRoux says. "However, the neighborhood's quintessential New England waterfront charm remains intact.” The setting can be tight-knit, with slender lots featuring more space in the backyards. Some waterfront homes have their own docks. Houses stay on the market for an average of 11 days, and only five homes sold last year. Prices range from $391,000 to $840,000.Outdoor concerts and swimming at Latham Park
With the coastline such a prominent feature of Bay Spring, there are multiple marinas where boaters can store their vessels. At Latham Park, residents can swim, watch boats, walk their dogs or catch an outdoor concert. Haines Memorial State Park spills into Bay Spring and has 19 acres to roam through. The central pond is used for fishing and kayaking, but there are also hike trails and lounges in the shade. Bay Spring Community Center is located in an old firehouse and offers classes and events, from songwriting workshops to French folk dances. In July, they host the Manning Street Music Festival.Barrington Public Schools are highly rated
Barrington Public Schools is the No. 1 out of 38 Best School Districts in the State of Rhode Island, according to Niche. “For families, Bay Spring provides convenient access to quality education,” LeRoux says. Primrose Hill School enrolls students in Preschool to Grade 3, while fourth and fifth graders attend Hampden Meadows School. Niche gave both schools an A overall. Barrington Middle and Barrington High earn the same score. The high school offers both certification and experiential programs in Career and Technology Education. Students can apply to CTE arts & humanities, media, STEM and business pathways.Traveling on the East Bay Bike Path
Bay Spring has long, walkable streets, but a car or a bike is needed for dining and shopping destinations. “One of the great things about this area is the proximity to the East Bay Bike Path, which takes you through Barrington,” says Elizabeth Kirk, a Realtor with Lila Delman Compass. The 14.5-mile trail runs along the eastern shore of Narragansett Bay from India Point Park in Providence to Independence Park in Bristol. Route 114, also called Wampanoag Trail or County Road, is the main street connecting Barrington, Bristol and Warren. The Resilient Route 114 Plan is currently underway and seeks to reduce coastal flood risks and increase resilience in vulnerable areas. Bay Spring's CAP Index crime score is 1 out of 10, significantly lower than the national average of 4.The Barrington Shopping Center is a few miles away
The neighborhood is primarily residential, but along Bay Spring Avenue, there's a small business district with a yoga studio, daycare center, auto repair companies and other services like furniture restoration. About 3 miles away, The Barrington Shopping Center is home to a CVS and Shaw’s supermarket. From sweet treats to savory pastries, Vienna Bakery has been serving up European-style baked goods since 1923. Peer inside the display case for a look at daily delights. Spaghetti Lane plates Italian-inspired dishes with an extensive wine list.
