Capitol Middle Magnet teaches courses in Game and Web Design as well as Robotics. Its students can also earn high school credit for classes like computer science, foreign languages and algebra. Tara High participates in dual enrollment courses with several area colleges while simultaneously operating the Cy-Tech Magnet Academy. This program allows students to graduate with a diploma and an associate degree in computer science. There are also several junior and technical colleges. Founded in 1986, Camelot College is focused on helping to educate and provide skills to the unemployed and underemployed in the business and medical fields. Licensed by the Louisiana Department of Education, the school has proven vital to East Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes by providing quality short-term job-specific training for careers in Crisis Management, Medical Assistance and Administrative Medical Assistance.Three neighborhood parks offer trails, fields and gardens
Lobdell-Woodale is a cozy hamlet with several dedicated green spaces. The largest is Milton J. Womack Park. Covering 22 acres, this park has plenty of room for games of catch along with a walking trail and multipurpose ball fields. Tickie Saia Memorial Park occupies four acres but is jam-packed with ball fields and courts, a playground and an open-air gym. The smallest park is less than two acres and goes by the name of Blueberry Street Park. The neighborhood also has a small commercial corridor with everything from a dedicated meat market to jazz clubs. Florida Boulevard, one of the city’s major roadways, offers eateries, grocery stores and entertainment venues.
