Colonial-inspired homes and the Maryland Golf and Country Clubs in Bel Air
Located on the southern end of Bel Air near the Maryland Golf and Country Clubs, Colonial Acres is a small residential strip on Ring Factory Road. With midcentury and Colonial-inspired homes on spacious yards beneath tall, shady trees, this stretch creates a suburban feel. “I would say that Bel Air is a relatively safe, family-oriented community. We have an elected sheriff instead of an appointed one, which I think a lot of people like,” says Mark Novak, a Realtor with Mark’s Home Team of Cummings & Co. Realtors.
Students study within the Harford County Public School District, which is graded an overall A-minus and is considered the No. 2 best school district in the Baltimore area, according to Niche. Bel Air’s bustling Main Street is just up the road, with several shops and restaurants. Major roadways are nearby, like Veterans Memorial Highway and Interstate 95 to the south, and commuters can reach Baltimore in less than an hour.
Bel Air shopping and Main Street dining
Colonial Acres is just down South Main Street from Bel Air’s shops and restaurants. Longtime favorites like Looney’s Pub mingle with little spots like Cozy Cookies and Tea by Two. Places like Das Bierhalle Bel Air and Independent Brewing Company have craft beer and ciders on tap, and Sean Bolan’s is an authentic Irish pub.
When it comes to grocery shopping or running errands, Festival at Bel Air is a strip mall on Emmorton Road, not far from Colonial Acres. There, folks can eat at Latitude Seafood Co. or shop at spots like ShopRite and Kohl’s. Up Veterans Memorial Highway is the Harford Mall, as well as a few car dealerships and major chain stores like Target, The Home Depot and Aldi.
Come to Looney's Pub for great food, drinks, and entertainment.
Village Market and Cafe features locally sourced goods with casual menu options.

Community events in Bel Air
Living in the Bel Air community means being part of several events and festivals throughout the year. “The county and the town do First Fridays where they shut parts of the town down and set up stands and vendors, like a little town get-together,” Novak says. “They’re also starting to focus on annual events, like the Italian Festival and local wine festivals. There are always events that either get the whole family involved or focus on things for adults or couples to do, too.” The city’s Walktober each Wednesday in October, weekly farmers markets and locally run summer camps mean there is nearly always something to do around town.
Mid-century ranch styles and two-story New England residences
A mix of midcentury ranch-style homes and Colonial-inspired residences line Ring Factory Road and other neighboring streets. Residents here often drive, so they benefit from proximity to South Main Street and Emmorton Road, making it easier to reach the shops and restaurants in the center of Bel Air. Some homes have spacious backyards or private pools, and there are a few quiet cul-de-sac communities. Neighbors sit close together, but there is still plenty of space for two-car garages and paved driveways. These single-family homes are often priced between $400,000 and $700,000. This is significantly lower than housing that is right on the golf course, just a few streets away, which can reach over $1 million.
There are many classic single level ranch style homes in Colonial Acres.
